An intensive 6-week course of auditioning, acting, and filming

PROGRAM GOALS:

• Learn self-tape tips that improve all of your auditions
• Work on acting skills with a scene partner
• Understand basic blocking in a scene
• Learn basic lighting and filming techniques for content creation
• Film a unique horror scene for your reel

Using unique horror scenes written by professional novelist and screenwriter Jon F. Merz, participants will work with partners on developing the scene under the expert tutelage of professional SAG-AFTRA actor Jay Street. Jay will lead participants through a mock self-tape “audition” for their roles, critiquing and making them better using proven techniques that his clients use to book constantly. Once participants are “cast,” they will work with their partners to develop a complete scene. Participants will then move on to blocking their scene out in the studio, learn basic lighting and camera work for personal content creation. Finally, the scenes will be filmed as if they are part of an actually produced feature film or TV show. 

PROGRAM BREAKDOWN:

Week 1: During the first week, participants will choose from a series of sides and be partnered up with other participants.

Week 2: Participants will self-tape “auditions” for the roles and have those tapes critiqued before auditioning again to book the role.

Week 3: Now that participants have “booked” their role, it’s time to get to work practicing their scene with their partner.

Week 4: Having locked in the performance, participants now move on to understanding blocking and basic camera work.

Week 5: Participants will now start filming scenes. Participants not being filmed will work camera gear, lights, and sound.

Week 6: Final week of filming. Participants not being filmed will work camera gear, lights, and sound.

All participants will have their scenes shown at the Ten 21 Studios Halloween Party happening in October 2022!
